a proposal story

So... I am recently engaged. Last month my boyfriend of 3 years set up the most amazing proposal. He was so adorable. It was a gorgeous Saturday, the kind of Saturday where you really, really don't want to go to work. We both work at the same place and are always working on Saturdays. I checked the schedule before I left on Friday and as usual we were scheduled at noon for Saturday. We arrived at work that morning and as I was walking to the back to clock in, I started to count the employees and realized there were too many people for our Saturday day shift. He went over and opened the schedule book and Tada! We weren't working. Hmmm....

We went back to the truck and there was an envelope on my seat.
And inside I found this:

He's so cute! He made a mix CD with all of "our" songs and a bunch that we like to dance to. It had pictures of us on the front and the CD started with him telling me how much he loves me and how great these last 3 years have been.
I changed and we went to get Starbucks (love it)!

We drove and drove until we ended up in Carpinteria (my favorite beach). We parked and walked around the beach, holding hands and having a blast. The tide was the lowest we had ever seen it and we walked all the way to the water and looked for pretty shells.

After having an amazing time on the beach, we had sandwiches for lunch in the truck and then parked so we could walk around beautiful downtown Carpinteria. We made a stop at Robitaille's (a ma and pop candy shop). It is so cute, and has the best candy, fudge, chocolates, and icecream (you name it, they have it). Robitaille's is also family run and normally when we go Great Grandma's working (she's so sweet and looks about 90!).

We got back to the truck with all of our goodies and on my seat this is what I found:
This one had another mix CD with pictures of my family and us on the front.
We were off again. But where to?

We ended up at the Disneyland hotel. And when I went to get my suitcase guess what I saw. Another Envelope:
Jason and I love Disneyland, we always have annual passes. We've always wanted to stay at the Disneyland Hotel, we just never had because we live so close. The hotel was gorgeous and so was the room! We decided we were just going to have a good time walking around checking everything out and we threw around a little Nerf football for a while.
We started to get hungry and decided to get dinner at Hook's Point. It was delicious. We started with a bruschetta appetizer. He had the surf and turf, steak and lobster. I had an amazing chicken dish that was heavenly (Jason agreed). We ended with an icecream topped cookie for dessert. Yum! We always have a great time when we eat out together, but this one was especially fantastic. I love having good company and we just have so much fun together.

The next morning we woke up to a beautiful, blue sky view. And had plans to go swimming, they have two amazing pools. We showered, got dressed and decided to walk around for a while first and then come back to change a little later.

We went back upstairs to change into our swimsuits. I went to use the restroom and heard the door shut. Did he leave? "Jason? hello?" Hmmmm.... Oh hey look he left an envelope. And inside this is what I found:

Isn't he the sweetest guy ever?? I love him so much. So I made the call and he told me to close the blinds and sit tight until further instructed. So I did just that and waited. Finally my phone rang. It was Jason and he gave me instructions to go down the elevator. I did and to my surprise Katie and Tanner (my youngest brother and sister) were waiting for me. I was just telling him how much I was missing them. I hadn't seen them in about a week (I had been working A LOT).

Yay!! I love my family, I'm so excited to have them with me on my hunt for Jason. :)
They also had an envelope with them and this is what was inside:

Hmmm.... Ooo I know, his hat! Is there a hat around here somewhere? I haven't noticed.
We walked around for a while. Got lost and went in circles. And then contemplated on whether to get some lunch and let him sit around for a while. :) Hehe.
We finally found Mickey's giant hat and under it was Michael (my oldest, younger brother). He had another envelope:

I remembered the giftshop and we all went looking for it. We saw my Mom from a distance in the giftshop. She saw us and decided to hide. We went around and saw her in the window. She was looking for us. We knocked and scared her and she took a picture:

We ran inside and she had another clue for us and a couple of shot glasses!
In all of the envelopes were a couple puzzle pieces and a clue like this next one my Mom had:

I knew where this place was. It was a little figurine shop in the middle of the Disneyland Hotel area, by the pools. So my mom, siblings and I all made our way over there and who was there?

Jason's mom DIANA! She was there with yet another clue. How many can there be? Where is my lovely Jason? Here's the clue:

Isn't he cute? I can't get over his silly little clues, though this one I think he really wanted to give to me. Animal? Underwater? Crazy for food? Don't be coy?
Definitely Koi pond. :) Off we go!

And who was there? Not Jason. It was my grandparents!!!

But then.... Coach(that's what we call my grandpa) says he dropped the envelope into the Koi Pond. Uh oh!

What!?!!? No he must be joking. I don't believe you!

He was joking! Haha good one Coach! :p So I opened the envelope and here's what I found:

Here we go. All of us were on our way to the beautiful waterfall area!

WE FOUND HIM!!!!

And he had an envelope as well:

Tada Happy Three Year Anniversary! (Oh yeah! Oops I forgot) What a good girlfriend I am! :) So we all went out to get an early dinner. And during dinner I put together the puzzle pieces that were in all of the envelopes. It was the back seat of the truck with a lock box on it.

Jason was jokingly mad because after looking at the first pieces in the first envelope, I started to look behind me at the back seat. He kept looking a little nervous and I could tell he was a little grrr. (hehe).

So after dinner we said our goodbyes and everyone was leaving. Jason and I went to the truck to get the box. He said he wanted to open it down in the waterfall area. So we headed back down there. And YAY! everyone was down there again.
I opened the box and inside were tickets to Chicago (it's kind of "our place"). It's where we went on our first trip together, only a month after we started dating. We absolutely LOVED it. We had the greatest time and fell in love! :)(with each other and the city Lol).

And then I look away and see this! I had such a dorky, this isn't happening, smile!

Ahh!!! IM ENGAGED!! I can't really even remember what he said. I just remember how crazy excited I was. My stomach was in knots and I am so in love and so happy!!

We spent the evening together and kept the kids with us to celebrate and go swimming in the amazing pool. We drove them home later that night and drove back to have our last night at the Disneyland hotel. And tomorrow we head to the airport to take off to Chicago. :) The kids keep calling Jason brother-in-law (he loves it).

Alright we made it to Chicago. It's cold. Last time we were here it was sunny amazing weather. Now it's snowing and cold. I love it! We went outside and there was a limo waiting for us. Inside you could control the lights and music and we had a great time drinking Champagne (it was really squirt). :)

We arrived at the Palmer, a destination hotel in the heart of Chicago. It was gorgeous. We went up to the room and it was not so gorgeous. Jason was a little disappointed, but we made the most of it and laughed at how when you open the hotel room door it almost hits the bed. And the TV stand and the bed have barely enough room in between for me to squeeze by. And the bathroom door was creepy looking. They tried to have a vintage look with a modern twist. It didn't look vintage, it looked old, used and broken. And the only modern twist was the alarm clock. But we laughed at it all and will remember the fun time we had finding things wrong with the room. We think we got the "priceline room". Lol. :)

The next morning we went for a walk around the city. It was so much fun. We LOVE Chicago.

I may have gone a little picture crazy at the end here (or maybe a little lazy).
Well anyways, I am just so in love and so happy. We had the greatest time and are just excited about what the future holds for us!

Thanks for reading.
